Arriving to school on time has a positive impact on learning. We have noticed an increase in students arriving tardy to school. The school day begins at 8:45a. When the bell rings, learning begins! Students who arrive after 8:45a are marked tardy. Let’s work together to start the day off right and get to school on time!

Why is being on time to school important?
Research indicates that arriving to school on time is strongly linked to improved academic performance, better attendance, reduced tardiness, increased alertness in class, and even positive impacts on mental health.
Being late to school can negatively impact a student’s academic performance by causing them to miss important information at the beginning of class, disrupt the learning flow for other students, and potentially lead to lower grades and a decreased likelihood of graduation, especially if tardiness becomes a regular habit; it can also signal a lack of responsibility and time management skills, which could affect future career opportunities.
What can you do?
To ensure your child arrives at school on time, establish a consistent morning routine, plan outfits and pack backpacks the night before, set multiple alarms, designate responsibilities for your child, and consider meal prepping to save time in the mornings; always factor in extra time for unexpected delays and communicate with your child about the importance of punctuality.
