Wolf Canyon – Home of the Timberwolves

We are excited to introduce a brand-new club that’s going to take our students on an amazing journey into the world of computer science—Skill Struck! This incredible opportunity will be offered by LEAD, and it’s designed to challenge and inspire students while they learn the fundamentals of coding in a fun and engaging way.

Students will dive into interactive challenges and puzzles, use a code editor to solve real-world problems, collaborate on group projects, and so much more. It’s a fantastic way for students to explore the world of computer science!

This week, our Student Council will be selling Friendship Grams from Tuesday – Friday, February 4-7. Grams cost $1 and sold by Student Council in the office quad area in front of the library from 8:15am-8:40am. Proceeds will go towards 6th grade camp and PE equipment.

Wolf Canyon and CVESD schools have partnered with the YMCA again this year for the 2025 YMCA Annual Fundraising Campaign. 

The purpose of the important campaign is to ensure every family has access to YMCA programs regardless of their financial background. 

Every donation helps and is greatly appreciated, no matter the size.

Please join us in helping us reach our site’s goal of $2500.00.  The 2025 Annual Campaign runs through Thursday, March 13, 2025.

Congratulations to all our Wolf Canyon students who represented their grade level and classrooms in the 2025 Wolf Canyon Speech Contest. Students shared powerful and creative speeches as part of the 2025 CVESD Contest prompt of, “Writing a letter to my future self“.

Dear CVESD Families and Staff: 

Registration for the Spring LEAD Academy Program opens Friday, February 7, 2025, at 6 p.m. LEAD Academy is a free program funded through the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program and is open to CVESD students in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade. LEAD Academy offers various academic and fun enrichment activities, field trips, and complimentary meals (breakfast, lunch, and snacks).

Registration priority will be given to students identified as “unduplicated” (foster youth, unsheltered, students living in motels/hotels, temporarily doubled up, students in temporary shelters, English language learners, and socioeconomically disadvantaged students). Arriving to school on time has a positive impact on learning!

We have noticed an increase in students arriving tardy to school.  On Monday, we had over 70 students tardies!!!

The school day begins at 8:45a. When the bell rings, learning begins! Students who arrive after 8:45a are marked tardy.

Let’s work together to start the day off right and get to school on time! 

Why is being on time to school important?

Research indicates that arriving to school on time is strongly linked to improved academic performance, better attendance, reduced tardiness, increased alertness in class, and even positive impacts on mental health.

Being late to school can negatively impact a student’s academic performance by causing them to miss important information at the beginning of class, disrupt the learning flow for other students, and potentially lead to lower grades and a decreased likelihood of graduation, especially if tardiness becomes a regular habit; it can also signal a lack of responsibility and time management skills, which could affect future career opportunities.

What can you do?

To ensure your child arrives at school on time, establish a consistent morning routine, plan outfits and pack backpacks the night before, set multiple alarms, designate responsibilities for your child, and consider meal prepping to save time in the mornings; always factor in extra time for unexpected delays and communicate with your child about the importance of punctuality.
