Dear CVESD Families:

Registration is now open for the Spring Junior Academy Program! Junior Academy is a free program funded through the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program. The program is open to CVESD students in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade. Junior Academy offers various academic and fun enrichment activities, field trips, and meals (breakfast, lunch, and snack). Registration priority will be given to students identified as “unduplicated” (foster youth, unsheltered, students living in motels/hotels, temporarily doubled up, temporary shelter students, English language learners, and socioeconomically disadvantaged students). After the highest priority students are registered, additional students will be registered on a first-come, first-serve basis. If selected, families will receive an email by Friday, March 8, 2024. For more information, please email cvesd.leadprogram@cvesd.org.

Important drop-off and pick-up information: 

Student safety is everyone’s number one priority. During drop-off and pick-up, please support keep our students, families, and staff safe by:

• Please pick up and drop off your children only in in the loading zone (not in the red zone).  
• Drive slowly and watch for pedestrians. Do not speed.
• Use crosswalks. Do not cross from the parking area through the vehicle drop-off and pick up zone. 
• Stop for pedestrians.
• Park only in designated areas. Do not double park or park in red zones or yellow zones.

Our 23/24 Yearbooks will go on sale starting January 10th for $36 until Feb. 29th. The price will increase to $50 after Feb. 29th. All sales end on March 15th and must be placed online only.

Who is ready for some fun this upcoming break? I’m here to share an awesome FREE opportunity for the students this Spring Break!

CVESD has partnered up with YMCA Expanded Learning Program to offer students in TK-6th grade a FREE program opportunity. The Junior Academy Program will offer a wide variety of academic and fun enrichment activities including field trips! Let me tell you… they’ve been to Petco Park (Students got a tour of the stadium! GO PADRES!) , YMCA Camp Surf, Ninja Factory, and San Diego Zoo to name a few!  Program dates are March 18th-March 25th, 7:30-4:30PM. No program March 29th. Breakfast, Snack and Lunch provided. Wolf Canyon, CVESD schools, and I have partnered with the YMCA again this year for the 2024 YMCA Annual Fundraising Campaign. 

The purpose of the campaign is to ensure every family has access to YMCA programs regardless of their financial background. 

Please join us in helping us reach our site’s goal of $2500.00.  The 2024 Annual Campaign runs through Monday, March 11, 2024.

NEW STUDENT registration will begin tomorrow February 14th at 9am online only for the following:

• Kindergartners who will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2024
• TK students who turn 5 years old between September 2, 2024 and June 2, 2025
• NEW students in grades 1^st through 6^th 

All registrations will take place online. There will be no paper packets. To register please visit our district website beginning Feb. 14th at 9:00am: www.cvesd.org Please make sure you are registering on the link that says 2024/25. This is for new students only, not currently enrolled students! Continuing student registration will take place later in the school year.

A couple reminders:

• Parents and guardians must submit an interest form at your school site to start the application process.
• An application must be completed for each child applying for the LEAD program. All applications are sent to the Site Lead, Anai Garcia – anai.garcia@cvesd.org. In the near future, all applications will be online!
• If parents/guardians do not return the forms, your child’s enrollment will not be finalized!
• Please note that completing the interest form does not guarantee participation in the LEAD Program.
