The ELAC Nomination window opens today and we need parents who would like to advise school officials on Multilingual English Learner programs and services. 
 
ELAC- English Learner Advisory Committee
The ELAC Board is a team of elected committee of parents, staff, and community members designated to advise school officials on English Learner programs and services.  Elected ELAC Board Members serve a 2-year term.

This school year, Wolf Canyon needs 3 parents or caregivers who would like to make an impact making student-centered decisions on the School Site Council (SSC).

 
What is SSC?

• The SSC is a team of 5 parents and 5 staff representative that oversee the effectiveness of the school’s Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).
• This year, we need:
  • 3 Parent/Caregiver Representatives
• Term of Office is 2 years
•  SSC members must regularly attend monthly in-person SSC meeting at 3:30pm.

Safety Notice: Traffic on the First Weeks of School

When school begins, there is more traffic than normal, and parking can be a challenge. School begins at 8:45a. We encourage you to plan accordingly. Student safety is everyone’s number one priority. During drop-off and pick-up, please support keep our all students, families, and staff safe by:

1.  Please pick up and drop off your children only in the loading zones (not in the red zone).  

2.  Park only in designated areas. Do not park behind parked vehicles. 

3.  Do not leave vehicle unattended on unmarked spaces, red zones, or on the loading zone.

4.  Drive slowly and stop for pedestrians. 

5.  Use crosswalks. Do not cross through the vehicle drop-off and pick up zone. 

6.  Follow directions from staff, Safety Patrol team, and on posted signs.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and partnership in ensuring a safe and orderly drop-off and dismissal.

LEAD Academy Program Information

The LEAD Academy Program is offered during intersession (fall, spring, and summer) at no cost to CVESD students in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade. Funded through the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program, LEAD Academy offers various academic and fun enrichment activities, field trips, and meals (breakfast, lunch, and snacks).  

Spaces are limited. The highest priority is given to students identified as “unduplicated” (foster youth, unsheltered, students living in motels/hotels, temporarily doubled up, students in temporary shelters, English language learners, and socioeconomically disadvantaged students). After the highest priority students are registered, additional students will be registered on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

Where is the LEAD Academy Program located?

The LEAD Academy Program will be offered at six school sites: Casillas, Harborside, Hedenkamp, Montgomery, Rohr, and Vista Square.

LEAD Club Families,

I want to begin by sharing my deepest gratitude for the support and enthusiasm you have shown for our LEAD Clubs over the past two years. Your involvement has played a vital role in making our programs engaging, successful, and enriching for all students. I am incredibly excited for a new school year filled with fresh energy, new opportunities, and exciting activities for the 2025–2026 school year.

We are pleased to announce that Quarter 1 LEAD Clubs will run from August 4 to September 10, 2025. All clubs including morning activities will conclude on September 10.

Important Reminders for Families

Club Operations & Cancellations
We sincerely appreciate the feedback we received last year and are implementing several improvements this year. One of our top priorities is minimizing club cancellations. I am working closely with staff to ensure substitute coverage is available through a rotating schedule.

Dismissal Expectations
Please respect club dismissal times. Last year, we experienced a high volume of late pick-ups, which places strain on staff and affects future programming.
⚠️ After three late pick-ups, your child will be disenrolled from the activity due to high demand and long waitlists.

Sign-Out & Early Pickups
We are introducing a new sign-out process to ensure a safe and organized dismissal for all students. Please be aware:

• Consistent early pickups may affect your child’s continued enrollment in clubs.
• Students who attend a club without a completed registration will need to be picked up from the office.
  • Registration is mandatory for student safety and accountability.

Communication
Important updates and reminders will be shared through:

Please check your email regularly for important information and updates regarding LEAD Clubs.

Coordination with Teachers
It is very important to inform your child’s teacher about any after-school LEAD Clubs they are attending. This ensures smooth communication and student safety.

Campus Security
As a reminder, Wolf Canyon is a closed campus. All gates are secured during club hours, and our front office staff is unable to assist with dismissal. For early pickups, please text Ms. Garcia at (619) 997-4062 for assistance.
