There will be a community forum  November 29 at 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm regarding Saburo Muraoka Elementary School, which is currently under construction at 1644 Santa Alexia in the Otay Ranch Village 2 area of Chula Vista, and scheduled to open in July 2017.  There will also be a discussion regarding school boundaries. parent-ltr-info-on-forum-pdf

Please donate to the Police Activities League (PAL) toy drive in partnership with the CV Welfare Council, providing toys for families in need who reside in the Chula Vista Elementary School District toy-drive.

Donations of Kleenex to the health office would be greatly appreciated to help us get through the cold and flu season.

Tuesday, November 15 is the PTA general meeting at 6:00 pm.  Volunteers are needed for the upcoming December BOGO Scholastics Bookfair and the Holiday Gift Shop.  Check out the “Chore” flyer coming home this week and consider discussing ways your child can “earn” money to buy gifts the family at the Holiday Gift Shop.

Thursday, November 17 is the last day to donate canned food for our holiday food drive.  Thanks to everyone who has supported this effort.

Bring in your empty water bottles this week only and support some of our former students in their service learning recycling project.

Volunteers are needed for Height & Weight Survey this week Monday through Wednesday.   You will need to be available the entire school day and will be responsible for going to get classrooms and bringing them to the auditorium. We need at least 2 persons per day.

Looking for that perfect personalized gift?  Well look no more.  You can order gifts and other items with your child’s very own artwork on it.  Complete the order forms and return no later than Thursday, November 17.

We need all Federal Survey yellow forms turned in immediately.  The classes that get 100% turned in will get an extra recess.

SchoolMessenger now utilizes a new five digit number for our District’s parents to use when opting-in to the text messaging service in our SchoolMessenger communications. There will be a Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) parent meeting at Hilltop Elementary Monday, November 14 at 6:00 pm.

Monday, October 31 – Just a reminder that we do not wear Halloween costumes to school.  Also, please consider keeping candy home as a treat after school and not at school.

November 1 is the deadline for placing your online order for your child’s school picture.  There will be an additional fee for pictures ordered after this date.

November 1 – 11 Student Council and K-Kids are collecting “Toys for Tots” to support children in need in our community during the holiday season.  New toys only!

Friday, November 4 is Military Pride Day – Wear Red, White, and Blue to show your support of our Military Families and all they do to serve our country.   We also invite our Military servicemen and women to join their students for lunch.

Federal Survey Cards are being sent home this week and need to be completed and returned by Friday, November 4.   Our school funding is directly affected by this information so please take a moment to do this.

Thursday, October 27 – PTA Reflections projects due. Winning projects are eligible for scholarships.

Wanted – Small “party favor” like toys for the Principal’s Prize Box. Drop off donations in the school office.

Attendance is becoming a problem for too many students.  Please ensure your child is here on time and stays for the entire school day.  Every 3 tardies equals an absence.  Breakfast ends at 8:40 and students are expected to be in line when the bell rings.  Habits for success start now.

For the Safety of everyone please do not drop off or pick up students in the bus loop, make u-turns in front of the bus loop, or drop off students on curbs painted “red”.  Courtesy and cooperation is everyone’s responsibility.

Volunteers are needed to walk the track with students during Run for Fun in the mornings, 8:15-8:40 am. Sign up at the Run for Fun table on the blacktop.

This week is Red Ribbon Week – drug prevention awareness.  Show your support by dressing up each day as follows:

• Wednesday – Hawaiian Day – “Lei” off drugs
• Thursday – Western Day – Give drugs the boot

Saturday, October 22 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm join the fun for our annual Masquerade Festival sponsored by the PTA.  Pre-sales continue this week before and after school through October 19 ($15 for unlimited games and $20 at the door).  PTA will give one free laser tag coupon to each student in the class that has the highest participation (based on percent of class enrollment) during pre-sales only.  To volunteer go to signupgenius.com and locate the signup through wolfcanyonpta@gmail.com.

Wolf Canyon is a finalist in the Crayola Creatively Alive Children Grant program. To complete the grant process we need a photo/video release form signed by the parent of each student at Wolf Canyon. Please sign and return the form no later than Thursday, October 6.

The PTA will be selling popsicles each Friday after school for the month of October.

Friday, September 16 is the LAST DAY of the QUARTER.  School resumes Tuesday, October 4 and that day is a Regular Day.

Wanted two or three parent Volunteers for the 2nd and 3rd quarter to provide extra reading support for some of our students.  You will receive a brief inservice and all materials will be provided.  You will need to be available the same 2 days a week from 9:00 am – 9:30 am October 10 – November 18 and November 28 – December 18.
