October 9, 2012

Welcome to Quarter 2 at Wolf Canyon Elementary School which begins on Tuesday, October 9 at 8:45 am. We are on the regular schedule with dismissal at 3:00 pm for kindergarteners and 3:15 pm for all other students.

October has many special events beginning with our Walk to School Fridays this Friday, October 12. For the month of October on Fridays only we will meet at the “All Seasons Park” next door on Magdalena, weather permitting, as early as 8:00 am and walk to school as a group at about 8:25 am. In the event of rain this event will be cancelled.

Just a reminder that on Rainy Days students report to the auditorium from 8:00 am – 8:30 am. At 8:30 am students in grades 2-6 report to their classrooms and read quietly until the 8:45 am bell. Please plan to leave earlier to avoid traffic back ups on rainy days. In the event of rain at the end of the day during dismissal, those picking up children should do so directly at the classrooms. Students will not be sent to the front of the school to stand in the rain.

PTA is sponsoring a CANDY DRIVE October 8 – 18. Please help our Wolf Canyon PTA by donating bags of Halloween Candies. All candy collected will be given out as prizes during the Masquerade Festival Carnival scheduled on Saturday, October 20 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm here at the school. Classrooms that donate the most will earn Scholastic Credit towards classroom books.

PTA is looking for Superheroes (also known as Volunteers) are need for the Masquerade Festival. If you are interested contact Sally Crew at Sallybg@hotmail.com

RED RIBBON WEEK is back and scheduled for October 22 – 26. Please look for more information about the activities and events scheduled for that week.

October is our Health and Safety Awareness Month and we would like to encourage all parents and family members to attend a very special presentation called “Bully No More” on Thursday, October 25 at 6:30 pm. This presentation will give parents and family members important information about “Bullying”.
