October 29, 2012

Thank you to everyone who volunteered and/or supported our Red Ribbon Week, Bully No More and Law Enforcement Day activities. We appreciate the tremendous support!

Our Canned Food Drive begins tomorrow Oct. 29 through Nov. 13. Please support our community and donate canned or dry goods during this time.

Tuesday, October 30 from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm there is a Common Core Math Standards Session for parents at the Chula Vista Elementary School District office located on 84 East J. Street in Chula Vista.

Just a reminder that if your child rides his or her bike to school they must wear a helmet. If you have a slightly used helmet that your child no longer needs please consider donating it to the school and we will recycle helmets to ensure all students are safe.

Please note that students may not wear Halloween costumes to school this Wednesday. We want to make sure all costumes are in good shape for the many festivities throughout your neighborhoods and community after school. Please do not pack Halloween candy for snacks and/or lunch. We are a “Peanut free” campus and many of these candies contain peanuts or peanut oils which can be life threatening for some of our students.

Smoothie Thursdays will begin this week. Every Thursday after school Robek’s will be selling Smoothies for $3.00 each until the end of the school year. The school will receive 20% of the profits to support our Wireless Campaign.

Daylight Savings Day is next Sunday, November 4, 2012. Please remember to set your clocks back 1 hour on Saturday night November 3.

Discovery Elementary will hold a TB skin test clinic on Tuesday, November 6 with follow up on Thursday, November 8 for those interested in volunteering at Wolf Canyon and need an updated TB skin test on file. The TB skin test is good for 4 years.
