Dear Wolf Canyon Elementary Families,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year.  My name is Mathew Shy and I am extremely excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Wolf Canyon.  Wolf Canyon enjoys a rich history of academic and cultural excellence, and I’m so happy to be part of its future.

As I make this transition to Wolf Canyon, I’m aware of the anticipation and eagerness that accompanies new leadership in any organization. I know change can provoke both excitement and anxiety. It’s my goal to spend the first several months learning about our school and all of the moving parts that make it flourish.

I will be making extended visits to each classroom to introduce myself and find out what makes each child so special. Additionally, I will be taking the time to hold meaningful sessions with each staff member to understand their interests and how I can best support their work with our children. In that same spirit, I would like to get to know every parent. Besides meeting you at drop off and pick up, I look forward to meeting you all at future coffee chats, PTA events, School Site Council meetings, English Learner Advisory Committee meetings, and other amazing activities and events on campus!

Once again, I am honored to serve as the instructional leader of Wolf Canyon. I look forward to meeting each of you.

Announcements 

Our office opens on Thursday, July 12.  Office hours are from 8:00-4:00pm. Please feel free to call or stop by if you have any questions.

Class lists will be posted on the wall ball courts (playground) on  Friday, July 20^th @ 6:00 p.m. Please join us from 6:00 – 7:00pm for the annual “Meet the Teacher” event.

The first day of school is Monday, July 23.  School will begin at 8:45 a.m.  You may want to plan to walk or ride bikes to school with your children on the first day as parking is always limited. Also, please remember that it is a minimum day with all 1st-6th students dismissed at 1:45 p.m.

Kindergarten Students will have a modified first day schedule for Kindergarten Orientation.  Parents will need to stay with their child on the 23^rd from 9:00 – 11:00am.  Kindergarten Orientation will be held in the auditorium.
