Thank you to everyone who supported our family dinner night at Project Pie. Thank you to our PTA for a wonderful Red Ribbon Week.  And thank you to all who participated in our annual Law Enforcement Day.

Boo Grams will be sold this week before and after school.  Boo Grams will be delivered on Friday, October 31.

Just a reminder to be safe this Friday when out trick or treating.  In an effort to ensure that your costumes are in great shape for the evening we do not wear costumes to school.

Tuesday, October 21 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Chula Vista District Office located on 84 East J Street there will be a chance for you to meet the candidates running for the Chula Vista School Board.

Wednesday, October 22 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm have dinner at Project Pie Eastlake located at 2260 Otay Lakes Road in the Vons Shopping Center. Present the flyer and Wolf Canyon will receive 50% of the proceeds.

October 13 – 17 is Walk, Ride, and Roll to School Week. As part of SANDAG iCommute SchoolPool Program and Safe Routes to School, Wolf Canyon will receive points for walking, biking, or carpooling to and from school. Parents should log in on the TripTracker on the iCommute Website. The top 3 schools with the most points per capita will win money for classroom supplies. Don’t forget to wear a helmet. October is Wolf Canyon’s Health and Safety Awareness Month

Monday, October 6 there is NO SCHOOL.

Tuesday, October 7:
8:45 am School Starts and it is a minimum day. Please make sure that the person picking up your child is informed. Kindergarten dismissal is 1:30pm; all other students are dismissed at 1:45pm.

2:00 pm Safety Committee Meeting
– If you are interested in reviewing and revising our Safe School Plan this is the meeting for you! We also need parents interested in Parent Patrol.

6:30 pm Safety Awareness Night with guest speaker Assemblywoman Dr. Shirley N. Weber. Find out what every parent needs to know about how to keep their children safe online and offline. A “No Homework” pass good for one assignment will be given to every child whose parent attends.

REFLECTIONS IS BACK! Submit your original Photography, Film production, Literature Composition, Music Composition, Visual Art or Dance Choreography video and you could win $1000 scholarship from the PTA. All entries must be submitted no later than Friday, October 10. All entries will be showcased at our Masquerade Festival where the winners will be announced. Tuesday, September 9 at 9:00 am is our first Principal’s Coffee Chat with a guest speaker from Jr. Achievement. Come out and enjoy refreshments while learning about this great nationwide organization and its programs for schools.

Tuesday, September 9 at 3:30 pm and repeated on Wednesday, September 10 at 9:00 am the ELAC Committee will meet to review the School Site Plan, Safe School Plan and much more.

Thursday, September 11 through Thursday, September 18 stop by the Bookfair. Books are a great educational gift and can support your child’s academic growth as well as the joy of reading. Wolf Canyon is partnering with the Chula Vista Police Department and collecting new or gently used Teddy Bears for Rady’s Children’s Hospital this week through September 5. Drop off donations in the school office.

Textile donations are still being accepted by PTA. Clothes, shoes, pillows, towels etc. are accepted. Visit the PTA website for more information. Click the link on our homepage.

“That’s Entertainment” – Yes, the Entertainment Fundraising Booklets are back with some newly improved features including online coupons available on your device when you need them! Support our school fundraiser. Booklets and information will be sent home Monday, August 25. All proceeds go to support our music program!

Monday, August 25 is our first School Site Council Meeting. Congratulations to the following parents, Carlo Camarena and Renee Stapley who were elected to the SSC Board. The meeting will be held in room 603 at 3:30 pm. All staff, parents and community members are welcome to attend.

Thursday, August 28 at 6:30 pm is our GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) Parent Information Night. How are children qualified for GATE? What are the programs that are offered at Wolf Canyon? All these questions and more will be addressed in this presentation.

Friday, August 29 beginning at 6:30 pm – doors open at 6:00 pm – come enjoy a night of BINGO and support our music program. Activities for children will also be available for $15 per child (ages 5 – 12) or $2 per child with the purchase of a BINGO packet. Bring a friend and receive a free bonus game. Must be 21 or older to play.

September 11 – 18 Parent/Teacher Conferences begin. Look for the sign up from your child’s classroom this week. Teachers will be sharing the newly developed Report Card aligned with the Common Core State Standards. The first quarter reporting period a blank template of the newly adopted Report Card will be shared with parents. Report cards will be filled out beginning the 2nd Quarter reporting period in December. Be sure to come prepared with questions you may have to your conferences.

Thank you all for supporting your children and our school! We had a wonderful turn out for Curriculum Night. Way to go Timberwolves! If you did not get to come to Curriculum Night click the link to view the powerpoint presentation. Key things to remember: Do not bring toys, gadgets and electronics to school unless directed to do so by the teacher. We have a “NO FOOD” Birthday Policy so please do not bring food to share with other children for birthdays or any other reason. And be mindful of how your children dress comfortably yet appropriately for school – no open toed shoes.

For the safety of everyone, please remember to wait in the front of the school at the end of the day to pick up your child. Please do not park in the bus loop during drop off and pick up times or do U turns in the bus loop. Remember to use the crosswalks and most importantly model for your child how to follow safety rules and signs.

Tuesday, August 12 at 3:30 pm and again on Wednesday, August 13 at 9:00 am there will be an ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee) information meeting. If you are the parent of an English Learner and want to know how you can better support your child, this is the committee for you. If you need a translator please contact the school office.

Thursday, August 14 is Curriculum Night. There will be an overview for all parents beginning at 5:30 pm in the school auditorium. At 6:15 pm parents may attend Session 1 in their child’s classroom. For families who have more than one child, there is a 2nd Session at 7:15 pm.

Support our music program and come to the Wolf Canyon Rummage Sale this Saturday, August 16 from 7:00 am to 11:00 am. If you are interested in purchasing a space to sell your items, contact the school office at 619-482-8877.
