APEX Update

Dear Families,

We have done an amazing job so far! Our school has collected over $20,000 in donations, AMAZING! In total, we Today, our Apex lesson was about habit #2 in our mission to discover the X-FACTOR, which is ADAPT. Apex taught us to adjust to different situations, especially when they’re out of our control! We learned how the Arctic Fox adapts to its environment by changing colors in different seasons. Whenever we need a reminder to change our mindset and believe in ourselves, we use the chant:

“WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY?” … “ADAPT DAP DAP DAP DAP DA ADAPT!”

*Important note: Pledges must be entered online to count towards our class total, so please be sure to log them at www.myapexevent.com.

Here is tonight’s challenge:

We have the LOGIN challenge! Any class with a login percentage of 80% or higher will win free donuts from Apex!!!

Did you know that many corporations are happy to sponsor school events like the Jog-A-Thon? Feel free to reach out to your company and ask if they would like to sponsor your child, or the school in general!

Thanks!

Dear Families,

Today, the Apex Team visited our classroom! We talked all about the 1st habit in our mission to discover the X-FACTOR, which is FEARLESS! Your Apex Team spoke about being willing to push ourselves outside of our comfort zones and to take the first step into the unknown!  Whenever we are feeling a little afraid, we’re going to summon the courage to overcome those things that might be holding us back with the chant:

“CLEAR THE FEAR” … “MY PATH IS HERE!”

If you haven’t already, please be sure to scan your QR code on the VIP badge that went home yesterday or log in to www.myapexevent.com with your child’s “Access Code” which can be found on the front of their VIP badge.  Log in and begin watching this year’s X-FACTOR theme videos. These videos are used as a tool to reinforce each leadership habit outside of the classroom.

Here is tonight’s challenge:

We have the SHARE challenge! The team to get the most shares of their website tonight will get to pie Apex and Mr. Lange in the face!!

APEX is Here…

Dear Families,

Today was a very exciting day as we kicked off our Apex Leadership Co. program with a Pep Rally! Students learned that over the next two weeks they will get the chance to help our school (and our classroom) by earning pledges. And the best part is Apex introduced their new leadership theme: APEX X-FACTOR!  The X-FACTOR is a combination of different skills that unlock the secret to making our world a better place for everyone! We are about to go on a mission together, a mission to discover the X-FACTOR!

The Apex team will be on campus for the next 2 weeks teaching us about these awesome leadership habits and being a part of our school!

Today, your child will be coming home with a VIP badge. The back of this VIP badge has all the information to get you started.  On the front, you’ll find a QR code to scan so you can log in to your student’s page. One of my favorite parts about Apex is that every student is included in the program, regardless of financial participation! Each day every student will receive a habit wristband that represents that day’s leadership lesson. I encourage you to ask your child about each wristband at home to continue the conversation about the leadership habit of the day.

Here is tonight’s challenge:

The Classroom that has raises the most will be pie our principal Mr. Lange with a pie tomorrow.  Help us get as many pledges tonight to kick off our fundraiser.

Be on the lookout for daily updates regarding our pledge totals as a class along with other information about the big event next week.

Thank you!

APEX Fun-Run Fundraiser is coming…

Hello Wolf Pack! Our amazing APEX team is back again this year for another incredible two-week event! We are starting off the festivities with a teacher pep rally today, and students will participate in their grade-level APEX pep rally tomorrow! Last year, we set a school record in fundraising during our event. We raised just under $100,000 for our school! It was an incredible year and the money collected went to good use! We purchased much-needed projectors for each classroom, upgraded other technology around the school, provided teachers with mini-grants to buy classroom supplies, and provided teachers with funds for literacy grants (which they used to diversify their classroom libraries).

We are hoping to have another banner year this year! While we may not get to the $100,00 mark this year, especially because our enrollment is lower, we know we will do great.

Be on the lookout for information coming home with your children starting tomorrow!

Thank you,

Wolf Canyon

Morning Parking Lot Reminders

Good Afternoon Wolf Canyon Families,

Thank you for making the transition to the new school year so smooth!  We have noticed many families walking this year, and the impact has been immense.  In fact, the traffic in the parking lot has improved dramatically, and we thank you for your efforts.

With that in mind, we did want to share a few quick reminders and tips.

  1. Please remember to always use the crosswalk.  We know that it can be a bit faster to cut across the parking lot in different sections, but drivers have been trained to watch for pedestrians in the crosswalks and not necessarily in other places.  We have had a couple of close calls recently and want to ensure everyone arrives safely.  We also want to continue to teach all our students the safest way to cross a busy street or parking lot.
  2. Our student crossing guard teams are back!!  Please exercise a bit more patience and understanding than usual as we work to get our teams totally trained.  Once they have been on the job for a bit, the time spent waiting in the drop-off line will shorten!
  3. The signs that are posted near the edge of the sidewalk in the drop-off lane that say, “No stopping, pull all the way forward,” are intended to prevent drivers from leaving their cars unattended and parked.  When dropping off we ask that you please pull as far forward as you can.  If you have driven past the first crosswalk (where you see me each morning), and all the cars in the line in front of you have stopped, you can have your children exit the vehicle and then pull away.  You do not have to wait until you get to the front of the line to have them leave the vehicle.
  4. It is fastest if children start preparing to exit the vehicle as soon as you enter the parking lot.  Then, once you stop, they can say goodbye and I love you, hop out of the car, and shut the door quickly.  The faster we can get students out of cars, the shorter the wait time will be. Those few extra seconds make all the difference when we are trying to get so many cars through the line.
  5. The bus loop located at the southwest corner of the school is designated for busses and staff parking.  Please continue to be mindful of this.  We have had a few close calls with drivers making illegal U-turns at both, the entrance, and exit of the south bus loop.  Please remember that area is not intended as a drop-off area.  We kindly ask that you use the main drive-thru loop.

We can’t thank you enough for your ongoing support!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Respectfully,

Principal Lange
