We Need Your Help…

We are looking for three pop-up tents to use for our lunch area… If you have one that you no longer need and want to donate it we would gladly take it off of your hands 🙂 If you happen to have one you can bring it to the front office and drop it off with Vicky.

Arrival Reminders

Good Evening Wolf Canyon Families,

It was a joy to see our Wolf Canyon Timberwolves back at school today.  We hit the ground running today, and are excited about everything the remainder of the year holds for us.  We know that the parking lot drop-off can be hectic in the morning, and we genuinely appreciate your patience.  Please remember that today was a bit more hectic than normal because of limited parking issues related to TK/K orientation, and families parking and walking their children to class.  Tomorrow, we anticipate it to calm down a bit because more people will utilize the drop-off lane (the lane closest to the school buildings).  While the traffic situation will continue to improve, we continue to strongly encourage you to walk to school (if possible).

Tomorrow’s Arrival:

Gates will be open at 8:20, and all of our 1st-6th grade families will be able to walk their students to the blacktop area (students were shown their lines today while at school).  When there, students can walk laps, read at their lines, or sit at their line until picked up by the teacher at 8:45.  TK and K please follow the directions you received this morning at orientation.

The tardy bell will ring at 8:45 and our students, teachers, and staff will be eager to begin class immediately at that time.  For this reason, we ask that you make your way off campus after dropping off.

Arrival and Pick-Up Safety Reminders:

There are nearly 1000 students that attend Wolf Canyon, and our parking lot infrastructure was not designed to support that number.  Because of this, it is even more important to remember the following guidelines.

IF YOU ARE DROPPING OFF STUDENTS PLEASE DO SO IN THE DRIVE-THRU LANE (CLOSEST TO THE BUILDING) AND PULL AS FAR FORWARD AS POSSIBLE BEFORE LETTING STUDENTS OUT.  PLEASE DO NOT DROP STUDENTS OFF OUTSIDE THE 600 BUILDING AS THIS SLOWS TRAFFIC DOWN.

DRIVE SLOWLY AND CAUTIOUSLY

OBSERVE SIGNS AND CONES

THANK YOU FOR NOT TEXTING OR TALKING ON CELL PHONES WHILE DRIVING

REMEMBER TO USE THE CROSSWALKS AT ALL TIMES

THANK YOU FOR NOT DOUBLE PARKING

THE PARKING LOT IS NOT A PICKUP AND DROP-OFF AREA

THANK YOU FOR NOT MOTIONING FOR YOUR CHILD TO WALK BETWEEN CARS

THANK YOU FOR FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS OF THE SAFETY PATROL OFFICERS

THANK YOU FOR BEING RESPECTFUL AND POLITE

BIKES, SCOOTERS, SKATEBOARDS, HOVERBOARDS, ETC. MUST REMAIN LOCKED ON THE BIKE RACK OR KEPT IN A SAFE PLACE IN THE CLASSROOM TO BE DETERMINED BY THE TEACHER. STUDENTS MUST WALK THESE ITEMS ON CAMPUS DURING ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL

We hope that you have a fantastic evening.  We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Respectfully,

Mr. Lange

Important Kindergarten & TK Update!

Hello Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Families,

We can’t begin to express how excited we are that you, and your child/children, will be joining us for the 22-23 school year.

We are eagerly looking forward to seeing you on the first day of school which is July 20th.

We have been working tirelessly to ensure that the start of the school year is successful.  Sometimes that comes with slight changes to the schedules and asks us to demonstrate flexibility.  Just this morning, we received the final word and approval for our first week of the school schedule.  Because time was running short, we sent out our initial communication with the weekly schedule in hopes of giving families a chance to plan.  However, with the new information, we are making one slight adjustment.

July 20th:  No changes to the previous schedule.  Parents will attend school from 9-11:00 with their children and then take them home for the day.  We will meet in the MPR for a presentation and then tour the school and classroom.  Doors will open beginning at 8:20.

July 21st:  The arrival process will remain unchanged.  Students will enter the TK/K gate (located on the north side of the school near the 600 building) at about 8:35 and will immediately be greeted by the teachers.  ***Dismissal is the only change!  Thursday, July 21st will be a minimum day for all TK and K students.  The school will dismiss at 1:30 for students.  TK/K will dismiss from the K gate beginning at that time and hand students off directly to their parents/guardians.  Unfortunately, if your child rides the bus, or attends DASH/YMCA we will not have these options available on this day.

July 22nd:  No changes to the previous schedule sent out.  Arrival will begin at the TK/K gate at 8:35 and students will be immediately greeted by their teacher.  Dismissal will also be the same.  For those new, to CVESD, every Friday is a minimum day and dismissal for TK/K students is at 1:30.

We apologize for the few changes that we have made and are thankful that we have a finalized schedule.

Thank you,

Casey and Mary Margaret

Welcome Back Wolf Pack

Hello, wonderful Wolf Canyon families!  We are beyond excited to welcome our Wolf Pack back to school and can’t wait to see all of you! We wanted to send along a few friendly updates and reminders about the upcoming year.

Below there is quite a bit of important information, so we ask that you read it carefully.  Also, not everyone is signed up to receive messages through Messenger.  If you have a friend or neighbor that hasn’t received this information, please share it with them.

The first day of school for students is July 20th. The first week’s schedule has changed slightly, please make sure to read the following.

Breakfast:  Students that eat breakfast at school will be able to enter the main gate by the front office and head to the lunch arbor beginning at 8:00.  On the first day of school, students that eat breakfast will then be dismissed directly to their classroom at 8:30 (all other days they will be dismissed from the tables to line up on the blacktop or walk the track).

Standard Arrival Procedures: (See the schedule below for modified procedure for the first week)

TK/K Students: On all days except the first day of school, the kinder gate (located on the north side of the school near the 600 building) will open at 8:35 and parents will drop their children off directly at the TK/K team.  See below for the procedure for the first day of school *** TK’s arrival process may change.  We will have more information for you during the TK/K orientation on the 20th. 1st-6thStudents: May enter the school’s main gate beginning at 8:20 and students will walk to the blacktop.  Once there, they can walk the track, read quietly in their classroom line, or sit and wait for the bell to ring at 8:45.

1st Week Schedule:

July 20:  TK/K Families will have orientation from 9:00-11:00.  If you are a Kinder family, please bring your child to the MPR by 9:00 (we will have signs to help you find your way and you are more than welcome to arrive beginning at 8:20 when the main gate will be open).  During orientation, you will stay with your child for the presentation, tour of the school, and get to spend time in their classroom.  You will then be able to take your child home for the afternoon in preparation for a full day on the 21st.

1st-6th  Gates will open at 8:20 and families can walk students directly to their classrooms.  Classrooms will open at 8:30 and the morning bell will ring at 8:45. Once the morning bell has rung, we kindly ask that parents make their way off campus as we will be locking the front gate shortly after. Dismissal time for 1st -6th 1:45

** July 21stKinder and TK will drop their children off at the kinder gate (which will be open at 8:35).  The 1st-6th grade will be able to walk in the main gate beginning at 8:20 and report to the blacktop.  We apologize for the mix-up, but the 21st will be a normal day.  Dismissal for TK/K will be at 1:30 and 1st-6th will be at 3:15.

General Updates:

Please check out our new school website and make sure to bookmark it. (New Website Link)

Also, please make sure you follow our school blog (School Blog Link).  Many of your grade levels maintain their own blogs as well and can be found on our main blog page.

We have updated our Wolf Canyon Family Handbook. It can be found on our new website under the parent section or accessed through the following link (Family Handbook)

Traffic next year will be a bit difficult. Olympian High School has moved its start time to 8:30. We anticipate an uptick in traffic during this time and are asking families to plan accordingly. We don’t know exactly what the impact will be until we experience it on the 20th, but we strongly encourage any families within walking distance to walk to school (weather permitting). If you drive to school, you may want to leave a few minutes earlier. As a team, we will work diligently to ensure that our parking lot is only accessed by the Wolf Canyon community.

Back to School Meet and Greet:

Please plan to join us on the blacktop for a family meet and greet on the 18th, between 2:00-3:00. Class lists will be available during this event. During this time, you will be able to briefly meet your child’s new teacher (and the rest of the teachers in the grade level), chat with families in the same class, and enjoy some Kona Ice (a portion of the sales will be donated back to the school). If you are unable to attend the event, you will be able to find the name of your child’s teacher in the glass display case outside the main office beginning at 4:00 on the 18th. They will remain there through the first week. If, for some reason, you do not see your child’s name on any list please contact the main office.

Need before and after school care? Please remember that the Wolf Canyon office is not able to assist with signing up for the DASH or YMCA programs. Need more information about DASH? Click on the following link (DASH Link). Need more information on the YMCA Program? Click on the following link (YMCA Character Builders AM/PM Program Link)

We are beyond excited to see you all in a few weeks to begin the 22-23 school year! It promises to be a fantastic year!

As always, if you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.

Thank you,

Wolf Canyon
