Thank you to all of our Birthday Book Club members this quarter! We will have one more celebration in January if you would like your student to make it into the yearbook! If you missed the deadline this round, you can still turn in forms to the Library next week and we will celebrate next month! All invitations for birthdays through the month of June will be distributed before Winter Break. Thank you for your incredible support of our Library!

It’s that time of year again!  It’s time to make a donation of any amount to support our amazing YMCA programs! As the principal here at Wolf,  I have the personal opportunity to see how the Y is making a difference in our local community, and I am constantly impressed!   That is why I choose to support the Y in my charitable giving. The Kona Ice truck will be here this Friday, November 18th from 1:30pm until approximately 2:15pm. Prices range from $4 to $8. Cash is preferred but they also take cards.

We understand that celebrating your child’s birthday is a happy occasion and may be something you want to share with their classmates at school. Please note that food is not allowed for birthday celebrations as part of our district’s Wellness Policy. Only non-food items will be permitted at school.

Non-food suggestions include: coloring books, crayons, books, school supplies, stickers, pencils, erasers, white board markers, etc.

Any food items brought to school for birthday celebrations will be sent home or returned to parent(s).

CHULA VISTA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT SUMMARY OF WELLNESS POLICY (BP 5030)

The Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) recognizes the link between student health and learning and is committed to providing a healthy school environment that promotes student and staff wellness, proper nutrition, nutrition education, and regular physical activity. The CVESD Wellness Policy (BP 5030) was revised August 9, 2017. It updates and reflects changes to all federal, state, local, and District guidelines. Additionally, the policy was re-organized and headings added for clarity and organizational purposes.

Summary of Key Wellness Policy Guidelines- School and District Community:

 Prohibiting food items in celebration of a student’s birthday on the school site during the school day.

 Permitting no more than two parties/celebrations with food for each class, per school year, to be scheduled after lunch whenever possible. All food items should be store-bought, pre-packaged, and/or pre-wrapped for food safety and allergies.

Today is the LAST DAY to shop the Book Fair in person! Stop by the Library between 3-5 PM to pick up some new books for the weekend or stock up on gifts for the holidays/birthdays! Also, don’t forget your teachers…many of them have wish lists so be sure to check them out!

Good Morning Wolf Pack Families,

Last week we had to cancel our Friday blacktop assembly because of inclement weather.  When we communicated the cancelation we also shared that we would hold a blacktop assembly today, 11/10, instead of Friday 11/11 (because of the Veterans Day holiday). 

Today we are holding our first round of Red Carpet Award Assemblies and will not have enough time to move from the blacktop to the MPR, and as a result, will have to cancel today’s assembly.  We will be back to our regular schedule next week, 11/18. 

All grades will follow their regular arrival procedure.

Federal Impact Surveys are being sent home this week and are due back to your child’s teacher by Friday, November 18th.

Please ensure you complete, sign and turn these surveys in by the 18th.We need to collect one of these completed forms from every student at Wolf Canyon.
