CCSS, CAASPP, and SBAC – What Does it All Mean!
You may have heard these acronyms tossed around in the last few months regarding student standards and testing. Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are what all students should be able to know and do at the end of each grade level. These standards build on one another so students have a comprehensive education and are prepared for college or careers by the time they exit high school. These standards are measured by assessments in the state of California referred to as the CAASPP the California Assessment of Student Progress and Performance. The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) is a state-led consortium that has developed next-generation assessments to accurately measure student progress towards the Common Core State Standards. These assessments will be used to help our schools determine how are students are doing as we provide instruction to help our students master the standards.

Thank you 5
THANK YOU to everyone who supported the APEX Fun Run. It was a blast.

State and District Testing begin this week. These assessments are a great way for us to know how to better support your children in mastering the Common Core State Standards. Remember, the standards are not the curriculum. The standards are the expected skill sets that all students should have to be prepared for college and/or careers. The Common Core Standards tell us what the students are expected to know but not how. Here’s how you can help your child: Make sure they get a good night’s sleep, eat a good breakfast, and wear comfortable clothes. Most of all remind your child to do his/her best and relax.

Tuesday, April 28 at 2:30 pm we will be conducting several Emergency Preparedness Drills and are looking for parent volunteers who would like to participate. If you are interested please contact the school office.

Wednesday, April 29 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm is FAMILY DINNER NIGHT AT Panda Express in the Otay Ranch Shopping Center. You must have the flyer for Wolf Canyon to receive credit.
