Wednesday, December 4 is Family Dinner Night at Chili’s in the Otay Ranch Shopping Mall. Bring the flier and be sure to mention you are from Wolf Canyon.
The BOGO Bookfair begins Tuesday December 3 and ends on Thursday December 5. The Bookfair will be in room 305 from 8:20 am – 11:00 am and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday, the Bookfair will be open all day from 8:20-3:30. Books make great Christmas gifts for students and teachers.
If your child has a birthday in November or December you can commemorate your child’s birthday by joining the Wolf Canyon Birthday Book Club for just $10. Your donation will allow your child to be the first student to check out the book he/she chooses from our special Birthday Book Club Section, have his/her name placed on the book plate inside the front cover, have his/her name announced in the morning assembly (Friday, December 20) and have a photo with his/her book on our Birthday Book Club Wall.
The Holiday Gift Shop is coming to Wolf Canyon December 17 – 19. Students will have the opportunity to shop for gifts for their family and friends here at school. If you would like your child to participate complete and return the Holiday Gift Shop envelope that will be sent home Monday, December 2 and return no later than Monday, December 9.
Please remember to sign and return the bottom portion of the Annual Notification form. State and Federal laws require that school districts notify parents and guardians of minor pupils of their parental rights. Your signature is acknowledgement that you have been informed but does not indicate consent to participate in any particular program.
Common Core Math Workshops for parents of students in grades 3-6 are being offered at the Chula Vista Elementary School District Thursday, December 5 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am or Tuesday, December 10 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm Spanish translation will be available.
Wolf Canyon is providing a series of Saturday workshops called “Common COREses” from 10:00 am – 12:00 am January 18, 25, and February 1. These workshops are designed to give parents a closer look at the major shifts in English Language Arts and Mathematics related to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and what this means for your child’s academic education. Look for the RSVP form that will be sent home on Monday, December 9.

Common Core Tip of the Week: Read a book with your child that has been set to a movie. Watch the movie then discuss the similarities and differences between the book and the movie. Pretend you are critics writing a review. Example: Charlotte’s Web.
