A HUGE shout out and “thank you” to the volunteers who made this year’s Holiday Gift Shop happen!

Hello Wolf Canyon Families,
As we prepare for winter break, we wanted to share some important visitor and safety measures that will go into effect in January 2025 when students return from winter break. These changes are happening at Wolf Canyon and across CVESD to keep our school campuses more secure. These changes will be in effect on school days from “bell-to-bell”, meaning 8:45am-3:15pm. Our goal is to sustain a welcoming environment, while ensuring the safety of all our students and staff during school hours.
Key Updates:
We appreciate your understanding as Wolf Canyon and our school district work towards keeping our school safe.
Thank you,
Wolf Canyon Administration

Arriving to school on time has a positive impact on learning. We have noticed an increase in students arriving tardy to school. The school day begins at 8:45a. When the bell rings, learning begins! Students who arrive after 8:45a are marked tardy. Let’s work together to start the day off right and get to school on time!

Why is being on time to school important?
Research indicates that arriving to school on time is strongly linked to improved academic performance, better attendance, reduced tardiness, increased alertness in class, and even positive impacts on mental health.
Being late to school can negatively impact a student’s academic performance by causing them to miss important information at the beginning of class, disrupt the learning flow for other students, and potentially lead to lower grades and a decreased likelihood of graduation, especially if tardiness becomes a regular habit; it can also signal a lack of responsibility and time management skills, which could affect future career opportunities.
What can you do?
To ensure your child arrives at school on time, establish a consistent morning routine, plan outfits and pack backpacks the night before, set multiple alarms, designate responsibilities for your child, and consider meal prepping to save time in the mornings; always factor in extra time for unexpected delays and communicate with your child about the importance of punctuality.
This Wednesday, December 11, there will be more traffic than usual at Wolf Canyon in the morning due to a scheduled CVESD training at Wolf Canyon at 8am. We encourage you to plan accordingly for increased traffic and limited parking. Families who live nearby are encouraged to walk to school. Safety is always the number one priority. Please follow all traffic rules and park only in designated spaces.
Take a break from cooking during this busy season and grab some delicious eats from El Pollo Grill on Wednesday, 12/11 from 10 am – 8 pm. Both the Bonita and Otay Ranch locations will be giving back 25% to help support our 5th Grade class. Show this digital flyer on your phone or mention “Wolf Canyon Elementary Fundraiser” when ordering. Orders must be placed in-person or over the phone to count.
*No specials, online, or 3rd party app orders will be accepted. See you there!
