Wolf Canyon YMCA Fundraising Campaign

Hello Wolf Pack,

It’s that time of year again!  It’s time to make a donation, of any amount, in support of our amazing YMCA programs! As the principal here at Wolf,  I have the personal opportunity to see how the Y is making a difference in our local community, and am constantly impressed!   That is why I choose to support the Y in my charitable giving. Please join me today in making a gift to the Wolf Canyon YMCA program, to support children, families, and the community.

You can make a donation to the school’s personal fundraising page in just seconds by clicking this link:  https://www.classy.org/fundraiser/4308688

To date, we have raised $385, and our school goal this year is $1,500.  Every gift makes an incredible difference! Please feel free to share with any of your friends or family as well.

Thank you for not only supporting our efforts to raise funds for the Y but also giving back to your community! We appreciate you!

Respectfully,

Wolf Canyon

Dogs on Campus

Over the last few months, there has been an increase in the number of dogs seen on campus (on campus is defined as everything from the sidewalks surrounding the perimeter of the school and in).

Unfortunately, last week, a student of ours sustained a bite by a dog brought on school grounds. While the student was not severely harmed, it was a traumatic experience for them. We understand that most dogs do an amazing job around others, however, schools are a place with lots of smells, different people, and unique items that can all cause an animal to act unpredictably.

We wanted to send along a friendly reminder that all schools in CVESD follow the state and federal guidelines for animals on campus that allows for only certified service animals to be on school grounds at any time.

AR 6163.2

SERVICE ANIMALS IN SCHOOLS
This regulation is designed to provide guidance regarding the use of service animals by students with disabilities enrolled in schools within the Chula Vista Elementary School District, as well as the use of such animals by school staff and visitors on District property and at school-sponsored programs and activities.

  1. Definitions
    a. Individual with a disability: As defined by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, and the ADA Amendments of 2008. (29 U.S.C. Section 705 (20), 42 U.S.C. Section 12101) b. Service animal: Any dog that is individually trained to do work or
perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. (28 C.F.R. Sections 35.104, 35.136)

Below is the link to the full five pages of Board Policy and Administrative Regulations outlining this topic.

With this in mind, we respectfully ask that you bring only approved service animals onto school grounds, and that those animals be in their approved service animal vests/harnesses. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.
