Congratulations to 4th grade student Micaela Luffborough. She took 2nd place out of 45 schools in the District Speech Competition. Way to go, Micaela.

Thank you to everyone who supported our K-Kids’ service project – Pennies for Pasta. We raised over $1,100 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We are making a difference that counts.

New Mathematics materials may be adopted for the 2014-2015 school year and are available for parents and teachers to review now through April 11 in room 408.

Registration packets for incoming kindergartners and new students for the 2014-2015 school year are now available in the school office between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Registration will begin this Wednesday, March 5th at 7:00 am for Kindergartners who will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2014. We will also be accepting new registrations for Transitional Kindergartners. If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact the school office at 619-482-8877.

Housekeeping Reminders: We have a no food birthday policy, cell phones need to be turned off and in the child’s backpack during the entire school day unless otherwise directed by the classroom teacher, and check the lost and found before the end of this quarter.

March 9 – Daylight Savings Time Begins. Don’t forget to change your clocks before you go to bed this Saturday. We spring forward 1 hour!

March 10 from 9:00 am – 10:00 am Mr. Larry Alvarado will present great behavior management tips for parents to use at home with their children. For every parent that attends they will receive a “no homework” coupon for their child.

March 10 at 3:30 pm there will be a very important School Site Council meeting and everyone is welcome to attend. We will review the new requirements from the state regarding school funding and our plan for achievement in light of the Common Core State Standards. This is a meeting you don’t want to miss.

March 11 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm in the school auditorium, grades 4-6 will be sharing what they learn in music in a Musical Showcase.

March 14 9:00 am is our Military Intern Coffee Chat. Our military intern, Ms. Brooke Schoenen, will be on hand to discuss the support our students whose family members are in the military receive. Everyone is welcome!

March 13 – 20 are Minimum Days and Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held. Remember to make arrangements now for those who will be picking up your children on these early dismissal days.

March 24 – April 4 is Spring Break! The school will be closed.

April 10 at 6:30 pm is a Parent Information Night to learn about the changes in the State Testing and our plans to begin a Dual Immersion program.
