Registration, Residency Verification and Zone Transfers can be very confusing. Here are the facts. When you are new to the Chula Vista Elementary School District or have an incoming kindergarten child you need to register your child. Once your child has been registered if you wish to have your child attend a school that is not your home school, you need to get the Zone Transfer paperwork at the home school, complete and submit it. If you are a current student and your address has changed you will need to complete a Zone Transfer to stay if the school is not the home school. This paperwork can be picked up at the current school the child is attending. Zone transfers are granted only if space is available and must be submitted every year the child is attending a school other than their home school. Residency verification is done every year to show proof of where you live and determine your home school.

February 27, 2013, kindergarten registration opens for children who will be 5 years old on or before October 1, 2013. Parents of kindergartners may apply for a zone transfer at the time of registration. New Zone Transfers, this includes families who are now zoned to attend Camarena Elementary, will be available beginning February 27. Zone transfers will be accepted for all 5th grade students and their siblings who are currently attending Wolf Canyon. However, transportation will not be provided.

Our hearts go out to the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. We want to reassure everyone in our school community as best we can and let you know that we do have a safe schools plan and emergency protocols in place. We practice the required lockdown, earthquake, disaster and fire drills at Wolf Canyon School each quarter. In addition we hold staff ‘table-top’ trainings at the start of the school year about Emergency Response to various scenarios.
