School begins on Tuesday, October 4 and we are on regular dismissal schedule.

Wolf Canyon is a finalist in the Crayola Creatively Alive Children Grant program. To complete the grant process we need a photo/video release form signed by the parent of each student at Wolf Canyon. Please sign and return the form no later than Thursday, October 6.

Parents who are interested in participating in our Law Enforcement Day on Friday, October 21 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am please complete the red form and send to the school office by Monday, October 10.

The PTA will be selling popsicles each Friday after school for the month of October.

Friday, October 7 the Girl Scouts will meet after school in room 303. There will be a parent information meeting at 3:15pm .

Wednesday, October 12 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm the Good News Club will begin in room 603. Permission slips will be available in the office and if your child participated last year, he/she should receive a permission slip from their teacher.

PTA Reflections projects are due October 27.

Volunteers are needed for the Masquerade Festival Saturday, October 22. Contact the school office to leave your contact information if your can help out.

Wanted two or three parent Volunteers for the 2nd and 3rd quarter to provide extra reading support for some of our students.  You will receive a brief inservice and all materials will be provided.  You will need to be available the same 2 days a week from 9:00 am – 9:30 am October 10 – November 18 and November 28 – December 18. Monday, September 5 is Labor Day and there is no school.

Thursday, September 8-15 we have parent/teacher conferences and we will be on minimum day schedule – students in kindergarten will be dismissed at 1:30 pm and students grades 1-6 will be dismissed at 1:45 pm.

The Scholastic Book Fair will also begin on Thursday.  The hours of operation will be 8:00 am – 8:30 am each morning and 1:30 pm – 5:00 pm each afternoon.  September 15 the Book fair will be open until 6:00 pm.  We need volunteers for this event!

Friday, September 9 is the Family Movie/Campout Night.  Campers may arrive as early as 5:00 pm to set up.  Campsite spaces are $10 for PTA members, $20 for non-members if purchased by Thursday, September 9.  The cost is $25 at the door.   The movie will start at sun down and is free.  All students who make cardboard cars for the movie will receive a NO HOMEWORK PASS good for one assignment.  If you want to volunteer for the Campout email wolfcanyonpta@gmail.com.

Congratulations to the 2016 – 2017 Wolf Canyon Student Council officers: President – Jaden Rabuco, Vice-President – Joshua Dela Cruz, Secretary – Heart Ingalla, Treasurer – Samantha Conley, and Historian – Sakura Lopez.  A special shout out to all students who participated!  You are the best!

Thank you to everyone who joined PTA.  We now have over 600 PTA members!  You can pick up your PTA membership cards before and after school at the table in front of the school.  When you pick up your PTA membership cards remember to sign up for family camp-out night!  The cost is: $10 for PTA members/per campsite $20 for non PTA/per campsite or $25 at the door!

School Reminders for Everyone’s Safety:
1. All electronics devices must be put away and turned off when students arrive to school.
2. All students who arrive to school before 8:30 will be directed to the grass or track area.
3. Those folks picking up students at the end of the day must wait in the courtyard at the front of the school or on the grass area at the front of the school. Please DO NOT stand in the entryway as this makes it difficult for classes to get through to the front of the school.
4. Visitors and Volunteers must show ID and wear a name tag while on campus during the school day.
5. For Privacy reasons please wait in the Front Office when picking your children early from school and not the Health Office.
6. DON’T PARK IN THE DROP OFF PICK UP ZONE PLEASE!!!
7. Use the crosswalks and set an example.

Join PTAPTA Membership Drive is on!  For every classroom that gets 100% of their parents to sign up and join PTA, those classrooms will get an Extra Recess!  Membership is just $10 PTA Membership 2016-2017.

Run 4 Fun begins this week. Students who arrive before 8:35 am will be directed to either walk or run the track each morning.  If you do not wish to have your child participate then they will be asked to stand on the grass area until it is time to line up.  To help out, just go to the table on the blacktop and someone will show you what to do.

Visitors and Volunteers may begin coming onto the campus this week.  All volunteers must:

  • Have a signed Volunteer Agreement on file
  • Have a Certificate of TB clearance on file
  • Sign in and get a name badge each time you come
  • Sign out when you leave
  • Remember that younger siblings are not allowed on campus during the school day while you are volunteering

Parent Info Night

Thursday, July 28 at 6:00 pm is our first ever Parent Information Academy Night.  There will be 4 session times so you can attend more than one.  Academy sessions will include:

  • Visitor/Volunteer in-service (required for All Volunteers)
  • Campus Safety-Disaster Preparedness, Bullying/Cyberbullying, etc.
  • Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)
  • School Site Council (SSC) and English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), Parent Handbook
  • Student Extracurricular Activities
  • Music Program Information – learn about the music program for all students, this year’s string orchestra program, and after school music clubs.

REMEMBER TO FOLLOW OUR DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES FOR EVERYONE’S SAFETY!!!
1. Drop off and pick up students only in the front of the school and not the bus loop.
2. If you must leave your car, park in the parking lot and not the drive through zone.
3. Please do not bring animals including dogs on campus at any time – this includes arrival and dismissal.
4. Please do not park in RESERVED spaces.
5. Please wait in the courtyard at the front of the school to pick up your child.  For everyone’s safety Do Not Go to the classrooms.
6. Please keep the front gate entryway clear.
7. For parents dropping off children at the YMCA during the morning Olympian High traffic you may move the cones at the entryway and place them back.
8. Students must walk bikes, hover boards, and skate boards on side walks.
9. Students not picked up by 3:25 pm (1:55 pm on minimum days) will be escorted to the office, sign in and need to be signed out by the person picking him/her up.

Meet-the-Teacher

Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm meet your child’s teacher for the 2016 – 2017 school year. PTA members will be on hand with membership info, fundraiser, and volunteer opportunities.  For families who have children registered for the YMCA childcare before and after school there will be a Meet and Greet from 3:00 pm – 5:00 in the YMCA room.  For information about YMCA Childcare call 619-421-9622 ext. 14220 or email bdanao@ymca.org.

The First Day of School starts at 8:45 am on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 and is a Minimum Day.

  • 8:45 am – All students GRADES 1-6 should report to their classrooms for the first day.
  • 9:00 am – All kindergarten students and their parents go to the auditorium at 9:00 am for a Kindergarten Orientation.
  • 11:00 am – All Kindergarten students are dismissed to go home with parents.
  • 1:45 pm – All students GRADES 1-6 are dismissed.
  • TRAFFIC DELAYS – PLEASE NOTE OLYMPIAN HIGH STUDENTS ARE DISMISSED AT 1:40 ON THIS DAY SO EXPECT TRAFFIC DELAYS.

Thursday, July 28 at 6:30 pm is our first ever Parent Information Academy Night.  Academy sessions will include:

  • Visitor/Volunteer in-service (required for all volunteers on campus)
  • Campus Safety-Disaster Preparedness, Bullying/Cyberbullying, etc.
  • Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)
  • School Site Council (SSC) and English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
  • General Information – Data results, Parent Handbook, etc.

If you wish to volunteer on campus you must attend the Volunteer In-service and complete a TB Clearance and Volunteer Agreement.

Those interested in serving on our school governance committees should attend the SSC and ELAC sessions.  WE NEED YOUR INPUT AND SUPPORT!!!  THANK YOU!!!

DROP OFF AND PICK UP IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. Drop off and pick up students only in the front of the school and not the bus loop.
2. If you must leave your car, park in the parking lot and not the drive through zone.
3. Please do not bring animals including dogs on campus at any time – this includes arrival and dismissal.
4. Please do not park in RESERVED spaces.
5. Please wait in the courtyard at the front of the school to pick up your child.  For everyone’s safety Do Not Go to the classrooms.
6. Please keep the front gate entryway clear.
7. For parents dropping off children at the YMCA during the morning Olympian High traffic you may move the cones at the entryway and place them back.
8. Students must walk bikes, hover boards, and skate boards on side walks.
9. Students not picked up by 3:25 pm (1:55 pm on minimum days) will be escorted to the office, sign in and need to be signed out by the person picking him/her up.
10. For everyone’s safety BE PATIENT, KIND, and CONSIDERATE.

August 1 – Run 4 Fun begins. Students may walk or run the track each morning starting at 8:00 am and received prizes. Parent Volunteers are NEEDED.

Smoothie Thursdays are back and will begin on July 28 after school.

Wanted – Small “party favor” like toys for the Principal’s Prize Box. Drop off donations in the school office.
