The Apex Fun Run is in full swing and we have already received several pledges. Remember, every dollar we earn from this fundraiser goes to support an orchestral music program for Wolf Canyon. The Fun Run will be this Thursday, April 24 during the school day and all sponsor donations will be due no later than May 1st.

Our school nominee for the Donor Nation School Volunteer of the Year is Eve Gainer. We need everyone to vote to help our nominee be the top vote-getter, and win $1000 for our school!

This is the last opportunity to join this year’s Birthday Book Club. All forms with a payment of $10.00 are due tomorrow (Monday). Students will be recognized during the morning assembly this Friday, April 25.

The deadline for the 4th quarter Honorary Service Award is Friday, April 25. All nominations must be in the school office no later than 2:00 pm.

Do you want to have your child leave their mark at Wolf Canyon? PTA will be setting up times for your children to paint a tile to be added to the collection in our courtyard. More information to follow in the next few weeks. All profits will help support efforts for the full time music teacher for next year.

The Chalkwalk is fast approaching and scheduled for May 29. We need outdoor canopies, baby wipes, dust busters and many, many volunteers. Please let your child’s teacher or the office know if you can help out.

The State and District Testing period begins this week through May 20. Make sure your child is here and on time each day, gets plenty of rest, and eats a healthy breakfast.

PTA will be selling Easter grams after school Monday-Thursday for $2 and $5. Grams will contain fun surprises and there will be a few special Easter eggs that contain and extra prize! Quantities are limited so don’t delay!

April 15 – PTA General Meeting at 7:00 pm.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Jump Rope for Heart campaign. We raised $3,283.55 for the American Heart Association.

March 10 at 3:30 pm there will be a very important School Site Council meeting and everyone is welcome to attend. We will review the new requirements from the state regarding school funding and our plan for achievement in light of the Common Core State Standards. This is a meeting you don’t want to miss.

March 11 from 9:00 am – 10:00 am Mr. Larry Alvarado will present great behavior management tips for parents to use at home with their children. For every parent that attends they will receive a “no homework” coupon for their child.

March 11 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm in the school auditorium, grades 4-6 will be sharing what they learn in music in a Musical Showcase. The schedule is as follows:
6:00 pm – 6:30 pm 6th grade will be showcased
6:30 pm – 7:00 pm 4th grade will be showcased
7:00 pm – 7:30 pm 5th grade will be showcased

Congratulations to 4th grade student Micaela Luffborough. She took 2nd place out of 45 schools in the District Speech Competition. Way to go, Micaela.

Thank you to everyone who supported our K-Kids’ service project – Pennies for Pasta. We raised over $1,100 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We are making a difference that counts.

Congratulations to William Speer, Kaylie Speer, Sakura Lopez, Cooper Patterson and Aubree Antoine for receiving awards in the National PTA Reflections competition! Way to go Timberwolves!

Tuesday, February 18 at 7:00 pm is the PTA general meeting. Please come out and support our PTA.

This Friday, February 21 is our Dancing with Wolves school dance from 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm in the school auditorium.
Admission is $1 and tickets will be on sale after school Tuesday the 18th thru Thursday the 20th in front of the school and available at the door. There will be contests and prizes. Grade levels will be selling snacks and novelity items. PTA is asking for donations of gallon bottles of water to help keep the students at the dance hydrated! Donations can be dropped off in the office. Thank you for all of your donations!

Please note Thursday, February 13 is a Minimum Day and there will be no homework club. Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 1:30pm and all other students will be dismissed at 1:45pm. There is no school on Friday, February 14 and Monday, February 17 in honor of President’s Day.

On Thursday, February 13 during dismissal the Family Resource Center will be out in front of our school to provide information about the many resources that are available to support families, services such as counseling, financial support and community programs.
